In my travels to Mexico I feel a sense of freedom and adventure open up, spaces for the appearance of the improbable and the fantastic all emerging within everyday sights.  In Mexico, life and death do not seem opposed to each other, but are parts of a single process to be accepted as a whole and honored for its sometimes harrowing and sometimes sweet diversity.  We need feel no sense of shame for who we are in these places, being both visceral and spiritual, crossing from one side to the other naturally and spontaneously.
My photographs attempt to capture the sense of a life that makes no apologies for its excess and holds out a seductive beauty because of its honesty.  Rational perfection is out of the question here, pushed aside by the forces that overwhelm and renew us when we consent to give them sway.
